‘Year of Return’ left an afterglow that Ghana must cherish – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo says that the 2019 ‘Year of Return’ initiative and the events that marked it has left an afterglow that Ghana must cherish.

According to him, Ghana became the center of attention during the ‘Year of Return’ and that has played a major role in cultural and economic development.

“We played a host to people all over the world who came together for political, cultural and economic engagement. We’re putting measures in place to take us beyond the return. The Ministry of Tourism and Ghana Tourism Authority are leading the charge to make Ghana an attractive and irresistible destination.

President Akufo-Addo said this on the floor of parliament when he made the State of the Nation Address in Accra on February 20.

This year’s State of the Nation Address is Akufo-Addo’s fourth and last in his first term as President of the Republic.

His address is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana.

The address is to update Ghanaians on the government’s progress and outline plans for the next financial year.

The president’s speech covers, in broad terms, areas such as the economy, education, health, security and infrastructure.
