WHERE WAS THIS NDC GROUP WHEN OTHER WOMEN SUFFERED ABUSES?

For reasons I have been struggling to associate myself with, some people appear to have delusions of hegemony when it comes to double standards in this country.

In fact, it gravitates from the sublime to the ludicrous for people to think that some women are more Ghanaians than others.

I would not hail Chairman Wontumi for his comments on Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang. As a matter of fact, I believe the comments were not only bad but incendiary as well and they have been duly condemned.

There is this group, with women as its constituents who have printed T-shirts with the inscription “Save Our Women From Abuse”.

This group intends to hit the streets of Accra on Friday to protest against what Chairman Wontumi said about the running mate of the NDC, according to them.

I find this quite pestiferous in that several women have been verbally abused by both men and women in the country without this group standing up with them.

Former Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Woods, Jean Mensa and Lydia Alhassan have all been subjected to dehumanizing situations and these people went quiet.

This nonsensical approach and selective application of support in this sector must stop! Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang doesn’t deserve any comments which degrade her gender but who tells them Theodora Woods, Jean Mensa and Lydia Alhassan deserve same treatments?

This is an agenda of the NDC to garner support for their woman and party, but discerning minds would not fall for these hypocritical tendencies. They should give us a break!
