Right from day one, our NDC friends have had this burgeoning and insatiable desire to frustrate the construction of the National Cathedral. Not only have they questioned the rationale behind the building of this edifice but they have also, on several occasions and platforms, raised issues with the funding sources for the project.
It was made abundantly clear from day one that the National Cathedral would have a larger chunk of its funding from churches, organizations, individuals and any group or groups willing to help in erecting this emblematic edifice to glorify the name of the Lord.
Tried as they might to get something to talk about with respect to the mid-year budget review, members of the opposition National Democratic Congress have failed to land on anything worth talking about.
They have rather found solace in the appeal made to Ghanaians by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to contribute GHC100 monthly to the Cathedral fund to help build the project.
The Finance Minister did not say every Ghanaian is under compulsion to contribute GHC100 to the fund. But for most members of the NDC, this National Cathedral idea would have been abandoned.
Some of us are ever prepared to contribute to this fund in order for the National Cathedral to be constructed to glorify the name of the Lord. It is a worthy project which needs to be supported by those who are willing and prepared to help build it.
