In fact, it graduates from the sublime to the ridiculous. The Court of Arbitration for Sports may deliver its judgment on a case brought before it which may set Ghana football on a reverse pedal.
Osei Kwaku Palmer, though not my favourite, was ill-treated. It was a travesty of justice for Kofi Amoah to deny him the right to contest on the flimsy reason that his team, Tema Youth, had sold a player but had failed to remit the GFA its share.
Instead of punishing Tema Youth, Kofi Amoah heaped the sins on Palmer and unjustifiably disqualified him.
The elections were held with its own outcomes. Palmer would not flinch back as he pursued the matter at CAS.
Kofi Amoah is heard saying that Palmer has a case and may win since Tema Youth is a distinct entity from him.
Kofi Amoah was not oblivious of this basic fact but for some grotesque reasons, disqualified Palmer. His current position is a betrayal of his own judgement as it conflicts with that poverty of a decision he took.
If CAS delivers a verdict that is in consonance with Palmer’s expectations, Ghana football could be hanged, drawn and quartered.
COVID-19 has dealt world football a blow that stakeholders least expected. Ghana football, hitherto, had its own challenges, but COVID-19 has worsened our plight.
If a miracle of a sort doesn’t fall down, the entire elections of the GFA could be cancelled, and Dr. Kofi Amoah is to blame.
