TALENTED CUDJOE, KEITA BRING TEARS INTO THE EYES OF ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK
It was all tears oozing out of the eyes of the vociferous supporters of Accra Hearts of Oak when their bitterest rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko trounced them by two goals to one at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kotoko opened the scoreline with a beautiful header from midfield dynamo Justice Blay who would be crowned the best player of the encounter.
Though the goal came much earlier in the first half, Hearts of Oak lifted up their game in the dying embers of the period. Try as they might, the scoreline would remain the same.
The second half started with Hearts playing their hearts out in an effort to level the scoreline. Through a corner kick which saw Asante Kotoko players who were caught ball watching, Joseph Essau headed a feeble one into the net, sending Hearts’ supporters into rapturous jubilation.
Having read the game from the bench, Coach Maxwell Konadu made some tactical changes which saw Matthew Cudjoe being brought into the game.
He was a delight to watch as Hearts of Oak’s defenders found him too difficult to handle. On a few occasions, they brought him down much to the chagrin of the supporters of Kotoko.
The Asante Kotoko wizkid thrilled the fans in the stadium and proved to be too tough a player as he combined very well with his colleagues upfront.
It was through one of his sensational performances that gifted him and Kotoko a penalty as the ball hit the hand of a player of Hearts of Oak in the eighteenth area of Hearts of Oak.
Naby Keita would not make a mistake as he slotted the ball into the net of Hearts of Oak at the tail end of the match.
Matthew Anim Cudjoe, though a toddler, delighted fans in the stadium with his talented play.
Many were those who held the belief that the young man would be a flop playing against a club like Hearts, but as things turned out, Cudjoe became their nemesis instead.
Once again, the superiority of Asante Kotoko over Accra Hearts of Oak was established today with Kotoko stretching their wins over Hearts with this victory. Kotoko has won 18 whereas Hearts has won 16 matches in games involving the two glamorous teams in the country played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
With disappointment written on their faces, supporters of Accra Hearts of Oak walked home, mulling over whether they can do justice to their kenkey this evening with this sweet victory of Kotoko against them.
