Former President John Dramani Mahama has been dared by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, to talk about the role he played in the Airbus saga rather than pretend he is concerned about how the spread of COVID-19 would be curbed in Ghana.
According to the NPP firebrand popularly referred to as Chairman Wontumi, Mr. John Dramani Mahama has been “misbehaving” eversince Ghana recorded the first case of the novel virus.
Addressing the issue on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, Chairman Wontumi dared the Mr. Mahama to speak on the Airbus issue which has brought shame to Ghana.
Chairman Wontumi warned the former President to stay in his lane and allow President Akufo-Addo to tackle the coronavirus pandemic since the latter is better equipped to handle it.
He therefore advised Mr. Dramani Mahama to use his opposition days to confess the grave sins his administration had committed particularly, the “Airbus issue which is still fresh in the minds of Ghanaians”.
Airbus, an European aircraft manufacturer is alleged to have paid bribes to top government officials between 2009 and 2015 under the erstwhile John Mahama administration when it sold three military aircrafts to the country.
For this reason, Airbus had been under investigations by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) of the UK and the Parquet National Financier (PNF) of France.
The aerospace multinational admitted hiring the brother of a top elected Ghanaian official as its consultant for the pitch to sell the aircraft to the country.
