SPEECH DELIVERED BY MR. FRANK ASIEDU BEKOE, DIR. POLITICAL AFFAIRS TO THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA AT THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ON THEASHANTI REGIONAL CONFERENCEOF NPP LOYAL LADIES 17TH-AUGUST 2019
Distinguish Loyal Ladies
Ladies and Gentlemen,
All Protocols duly observed
I bring you warm felicitations from the President Nana AddoDankwaAkufo-Addo Commander In Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, the Vice President and Hon. AkosuaFremaOsei-Opare, the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana.
It is very heartwarming to be back home and to also participate in this important conference. Fellow patriots, what we are experiencing here today reinforce our commitment towards building a lifelong network and a strong interface with the grassroots of this great party of ours. For me, the grassroot represents the engine of our party and never can the grassroot be abandoned for any reason.
Distinguish Loyal Ladies; let me start by saying that this meeting could not have happened at any opportune time than today. The timely nature of this meeting rests in the changing trends in youth activism and the conduct of young ladies in the phase of these changing trends. It is very commendable that we are taking initiatives such as thisto reignite, reenergize and reorganize the frontiers of grassroot activism in our dear party.
Ladies and Gentlemen, lets not be deceived, the Ghanaian economy is gradually gaining momentum after 8years of bondage and shackles of the incompetent JDM and the NDC government. Indeed the essence of governance and leadership is to create the requisite ecosystem for both businesses and individual citizens to function effectively. From all indications, this is what the Akufo-Addois government is pursuing. We have recognized many interventions and numerous flagship projects under this government than any other government.
In case we have forgotten, the government has established the Zongo Development Fund, restored nurses and teacher trainee allowances, instituted NABCO to temporarily deal with graduate unemployment menace, sustained the ‘ALMIGHTY’ Free SHS and increased Capitation Grant from GHC 4.5 to GHC 10. Moreover, the government has digitalized the port activities through the paperless system, which has improved efficiency, and speedy clearing systems. Driver license systems, NHIA card renewals and passport registration systems have all been digitalized. Medical supply systems have also been digitalized through a drone technology for patients under emergency situations. On job creation, the government has also made history by recruiting more than 54, 000 young people into nursing which is the highest in Ghana since independence.Let me assure you that these employment creation potentials, government flagship programs and the other initiatives instituted are aimed at empowering young talents like you gathered here today.
Ladies and gentlemen, lets not be apathetic towards party activities just because we have not landed our dream jobs or contracts. As a matter of principle, we expect all political appointees to open their doors for the grassroot and to assist in all endeavors. Those of us enjoying from the power we all struggled for must be willing and able to support the young ones.
I heard recently, that JDM is beginning to revise his position on the most popular Free Senior High School intervention introduced by this government. For me, John Mahamah and the NDC are just saboteurs and evil plotters with no positive intentions for the Free Senior High School Policy. If they have, they should clarify their position on the free senior school policy for us. Clearly, the opposition has nothing new to offer Ghanaians. Indeed if JDM is not shy to support the Free Senior High School, then this is just the beginning. JDM’s revelation is a testament to the hard work, commitment and performance of the Akufo-Addo led government. I can emphatically say that by 2020, JDM and the NDC would have supported all the other government policies initiated by the current government.
Distinguish Loyal Ladies, it means to me is that; we chose a winning team so why change a government that is doing so well as established by the leader of the opposition-NDC.
Another show of incompetence by the opposition reached its climax this week. The minority is demanding a separate probe by the US embassy into the PDS-ECG concession deal. I wish to remind the NDC, that Ghana is a sovereign state with competent institutional set-up for investigations. It will therefore be an affront on diplomacy and international relations for anyone to be calling for this unsolicited support such as this. The unwarranted call for international support reflects their chronic fixation on the IMF and other international organizations for policy credibility and other economic interventions. Let it be made clear to the NDC that we will resist every step to send Ghana back to IMF at any point in time of our governance regime.
Once again on behalf of the President of Ghana, the Chief of Staff and myself I say thank you and may God Bless our homeland Ghana, and make our nation great and strong.
