Prestea Huni-valley MP Appeals For Four More Years As She Tours Constituency

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Prestea Huni-valley constituency, Hon. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, has appealed to residents in her area to give President Akufo-Addo and her good self a second term in office to enable them proceed with their developmental agenda.

She reiterated, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Akufo-Addo have overseen real progress in recent years and has kept faith with Ghanaians by fulfilling most of their campaign promises which included the introduction of Nation Builders Corps (NaBCO) which has reduced the unemployment rate of the youthful population, Free Senior High School (FSHS), Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), and the Community Mining Program.

The MP indicated that other interventions by the government such as reducing the cost of fertilizers, providing free mass spraying, pruning and pollination of Cocoa farms are evidence of government’s commitment in seeing the growth of the sector.

She therefore called on residents to vote for the NPP in the December 7 polls to ensure four more years for President Akufo-Addo, to enable him do more for the country.

The legislator made the call on Friday, September 25, 2020 on her routine community visitation tour in her area.

The tour took the MP to Nyametease, a farming community in her area where she joined the Muslim community to worship at the Nyametease Mosque.

The Imam on behalf of the congregation wished the MP well and offered prayers for her, vice president Dr. Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo.

The MP later interacted and touted some significant achievement with residents at the community centre.

She then proceeded to Camp and Afamasi Akotom respectively where she used the moment to brief the chief, elders, opinion leaders and residents about some intervention projects she has undertaken in various sectors to improve the living standards of constituents, key amongst them included distribution of Tricycles, Spraying machines, Cutlasses, Oil Palm and Cocoa seedlings to farmers. Construction of ultra modern classroom blocks and presentation of furniture, stationery, computers and motorbikes to the education directorate.

Disbursement of over GHc 50,000 to Students who have gained admission to Universities and other tertiary institutions, construction of ultra modern CHPs compounds, expansion of Prestea government hospital children’s ward, donation of medical equipment and motorbikes to health directorate, donation of food items and mobility aids to persons with disability, and provision of over 20 boreholes to different communities in the constituency.

Other interventions include, construction of mini oil palm and gari processing factory, Obaapa Micro Loan Scheme which falls under her foundation ‘Wassa Hemaa’ which is tailored at empowering women within the constituency by extending small loans and other basic financial assistance to women that do not have access to capital.

The MP emphasized that she will continue to commit resources at her disposal towards addressing the basic needs of the people.

She urged residents to exercise patience with the government as it works to satisfy their needs and that every community in the constituency would get its fair share of the national cake.

The legislator therfore appealed to residents to rally behind her, President Akufo-Addo as they deliver on their promise made to the good people of Ghana.

The MP was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive for the area Dr. Isaac Dasmani, as well as other NPP executives.
