PRESTEA COMMUNICATORS FOR DEVELOPMENT (PCD) UNHAPPY WITH CONTRACTOR ON PRESTEA SCOT STADIUM ASTROTURF PROJECT.

The leadership of Prestea Communicators for Development (PCD), a registered CSO based in Prestea has expressed its unhappiness with the contractor in charge of Prestea Scot Stadium Astroturf Project over what they describe as “abject abandonment ” of a great project that will uplift the image of their community in the area of sports development.

Earlier this year, our MP Hon. Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi lobbied the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation and consequently, the Prestea Scot Stadium was awarded to a Contractor (to construct a modern astroturf) in a glamourous sod cutting ceremony that saw many dignitaries attending, including our Chief, Nana Nteboah Prah IV.

We at Prestea Communicators for Development (PCD) touted the project as a novelty and a game changer in developing talents in the areas of sports in our enclave. Sadly, close to six months after the sod cutting, we are disappointed to report that, “the progress of this project is nothing to write home about” despite payment of mobilization by GNPC to the contractor Mr Gershon Sorgbey. This has sparked anger in the Youth Fraternity in our community.

It is important to note that a similar project lobbied by our MP at Aboso is over 85% complete. This is an indication that, the contractor is adopting lukewarm and lackadaisical behaviour and we at PCD wonder what the funds released to the contractor for the project has been used for as no work is ongoing.

We are by this release calling on GNPC, the Government, our MP, Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi, and MCE, Dr. Isaac Dasmani to as a matter of urgency ensure that the contractor will GET THE JOB DONE for the Youth in Prestea.
