John Dramani Mahama during his reign as the President of Ghana stated emphatically in 2012 that a free education policy for Senior High School (SHS) students could only be possible in the next twenty (20) years. Again, prior to the 2016 general elections, former President John Mahama put together and sponsored more than two hundred (200) adverts on television, radio, print and social media platforms against the Free SHS (FSHS) policy, yet this same person shockingly claims that he would consolidate the gains made so far under the FSHS if elected in 2020.
His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana made the aforementioned statement on Saturday 7th November, 2020 during a grand durbar held in honor of him at Kwadaso Beposo by the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly (KdMA) during his visit to commission a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the Methodist Technical Institute. Before the commission, the First Gentleman of the Land inspected the progress of the ongoing construction of the Creative Arts SHS in the Municipality.
The President christened “The Diaprepís Aldrich”, to wit “The Outstanding Old Wise Ruler” continued that, John Mahama can not be trusted due to his inconsistencies regarding the FSHS policy and his many other stances with respect to governance and economic policies. President Nana Addo, in furtherance, espoused that his records in the education sector are unparalleled, and that, John Mahama completely neglected TVET to deplete, and did nothing to salvage the sinking ship of that education sector under his rein. “Again, Mahama has been promising to make TVET cost-free when voted into power in the upcoming elections while TVET has always been part of the Free SHS policy under my government”, he added.
The President further posited that this is the first time in the history of Ghana politics that two individuals who have records as Presidents are contesting for the Presidential slot of the Country yet John Mahama is unable to campaign on his achievements, but only keeps pushing forth new promises, because, due to his mismanagement and other incompetencies as a former President of the Country, he has only negative records to show.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, in addition capitalized on the opportunity to introduce Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, Parliamentary Candidate for Kwadaso Constituency to the gathering. He also pleaded with the constituents of Kwadaso Constituency to show gratitude to him for his prudent and unprecedented management of the Country, through voting massively for him and Dr. Kingsley Nyarko in the upcoming 2020 polls.
The durbar also had in attendance Bernard Antwi Bosiako (Chairman Wontumi), Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP); Simon Osei-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister; Alan Kyeremateng, Minister of Trade and Industry; Kwabena Adjei Agyapong, former General Secretary of NPP; Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo, Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET); Mr. Richmond Agyenim Boateng, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso Municipal Assembly (KdMA); Dr. S.K Nuamah, Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency; Nana Ayeboafo Nkansa Boadu, Chief of Nzima, among others.
