PRAMPRAM AIRPORT SCANDAL -ABU DHABI GROUP TO SUE GHANA GOVERNMENT OVER DUBIOUS 40 MILLION DOLLARS COMMISSION FEES
Reports from the United Arab Emirates say the International Conglomerate ,the Abu Dhabi Investment Company Limited is preparing to launch a suit against the Ghanaian government next month at the International Court of Abitration over 40 million dollar commission fees that was received by the government in August 2014 after they were given the contract to construct a new international airport in Prampram .
The Contract that was signed by the then President of Ghana Mr John Dramani Mahama o and Shiekh Maktoum the Emir of Dubai with the Abu Dhabi Investment Company as the executing agency to construct the new international Airport at Prampram 21miles from Accra .
Abu Dhabi Investment Company in papers to be filed at the International Court of Abitration state that 40 million Dollars was paid as commission and preparatory fees to the Ghana government on the advice of senior government officials at the Presidency to “soften the grounds” for the President to cut the sod for the project to commence .After the commissions were paid to the President’s Office ,there was no further correspondence and attempts to meet the then President of Ghana Mr Mahama failed to materialise.
Sources at the International Court of Abitration say if the Ghana government loses the case they could be made to pay up to 250 million dollars in compensation. Officials in the current Ghanaian government when contacted stated they were aware of this case and they were in talks with Senior officials within the Emirate and the Abu Dhabi Investment Company to resolve the issue.
