Director of Communications of the main opposition political party, Samuel Gyamfi, has run to the Police for protection from Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Ken Agyapong.
According to the vociferous party leader, he has picked intelligence that the Legislator is putting in place measures to silence him the same way he allegedly did to investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale.
Ken Agyapong during an interview on Asempa FM monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com threatened to cause harm to the NDC communicator if he does stop heightening tension in the country.
“If he doesn’t stop fanning and calling for violence in this country, I’ll crush him. He’ll just be beaten for just three seconds and he’ll ease on himself…,” he warned in Twi.
He further said that he has the power to ‘silence’ Sammy Gyamfi in three seconds’ if he does not stop preaching violence in the country.
Sammy Gyamfi who has since been shaken by the comments of the Legislator has run to the Police CID for protection from the Assin Central MP.
In an epistle to the CID copied to GhanaNewsPage.Com, Sammy Gyamfi alleged that he has picked up credible information that Ken Agyapong is planning to carry out the plot to ‘silence him’ in three seconds.
“Having regard to recent history and the notorious fact that, a prominent investigative journalist by name Ahmed Suale was shot and murdered in cold blood by some unknown criminals following similar threats made on his life by the same Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, our client, as a law abiding citizen, feels compelled to formally write to you and lodge a complaint against the said Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, so as to avert a possible repeat of what happened to the late Ahmed Suale when his life was threatened by Mr. Kennedy Agyapong on that very “Ekosisen” platform and other media platforms.”
“Since making the said criminal threats on Asempa FM, our client has come by credible intelligence that show that indeed, Kennedy Agyapong has contracted some thugs to carry out the threats he issued on our client’s life,” his lawyers claimed.
He therefore appealed to the police to save him from the hands of Ken Agyapong as according to him, he doesn’t want to die the same way investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale died.
“We humbly request your good office to cause investigations to be conducted into the complaint herein, relative to the threat of harm and/ or death by Mr. Kennedy Agyapong on our client’s life, both of which constitute serious offenses under the Criminal Offenses Act of Ghana, 1960 (Act 29).”
