Former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to build a regional hospital for each of the six new regions created last year should he be voted into power in December, 2020.
The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) made this pledge at the Asunafo North District during his speak out tour in the area on Thursday.
Speaking to a gathering of people from the communities of Akodie, Bediako and Kasapee in the Asunafo District, the presidential candidate noted that quality healthcare delivery system remains one of his topmost priorities. He added that since all the newly created regions lack a standard regional hospital like the already existing regions, his next government will make it a priority to build a state of the art hospital for all these new regions.
According to John Mahama, such health facilities will help to make access to quality healthcare easy for residents in the newly created regions.
“In all the newly created regions, I will build one brand new regional hospital each in them. This will help to ensure that whenever someone is sick and it gets serious to the point the person needs to be rushed to a bigger hospital, you won’t go all the way to Kumasi or Sunyani. Here in Goaso, you will get a hospital which matches the standard of the Kumasi Hospital to attend to the sick person,” John Dramani Mahama told the cheering crowd.
