NDC wants to cremate Rawlings’ body for spiritual directions ahead of 2020 polls – Group alleges

A Civil Society Organization, Concerned Voters Movement (CVM), has alleged that the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants to cremate the dead body of deceased former President, Jerry John Rawlings for spiritual directions ahead of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to the group, attempts by the leadership of the NDC to be the front liner of the burial and funeral of the late President is an indication the party wants to perform “certain sacrifices and rituals with the mortal remains of J.J. Rawlings ahead of the December 7, 2020, general elections,”

In a statement calculating on social media and sighted by Ghana Guardian, the group also alleged that, “The crocodile tears of Asiedu Nketia is allegedly due to the undue delay of the performance of the sacrifice and the rituals.”

The group is therefore urging the government led by President Akufo-Addo and the family of Mr. Rawlings everything possible to prevent the NDC from having access to the mortal remains of the former statesman.

“We are urging the Government and the Rawlings family to do everything possible to police the body of J. J. Rawlings and block the leadership of NDC from having undue access to the body of Rawlings,” it said.
