Mr Kingsley Agyemang, the Registrar of Ghanas Scholarship secretariat writes :
It behoves on all of us to ensure that we live healthy lifestyles. I couldn’t have had a better opportunity but to’ marshal’ the people of Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly to embark on a walk this morning to show our commitment to calls made by President Akufo-Addo on obesity.
Addressing the thousands of residents who helped made this walk a success, I advised them to take what they eat seriously and exercise periodically because being obese comes with all sorts of risks including hypertension, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, lower back pain among others.
Having had the first ever stakeholder engagement on multi-level determinants of obesity in Ghana last year December and as the Lead Researcher with the Brunel University, I believe the workshop will go a long way to help us understand how policymaking on obesity in Ghana happens and who the key actors are.
This research is being supervised by Professors Subhash Pokhrel, Christina Victor and Associate Professor Nana Kwame Anokye all of the Brunel University.
The Kingsley Keep Fit Club with less than a year after it was founded by my good self now has over 5000 members and we expect to grow more by close of the year.
Thanks to all who took time to make this exercise successful. Let’s continue to be Humble, Work Hard and Be Kind.
