MARTIN AMIDU PLANING TO CONTEST JOHN MAHAMA AHEAD OF 2024 ELECTIONS?
Former President John Mahama will definitely have a good run for his money in his quietly-promoted bid to go for another elections in 2024.
Credible information available indicates that John Mahama will have to fight off a keener but bloody internal challenge of protracted bickering from the former Attorney-General Martin Amidu in the flagbearership race of the National Democratic Congress ahead of 2024 elections
A deep throat source has hinted that Martin Amidu is lacing his boots for the 2024 elections hence his decision to back out from Akufo-Addo’s government.
The source hinted that, Martin Amidu together with other game changers in the NDC have realised the slim chance of the NDC in the upcoming general elections particularly with John Mahama as flag-bearer and therefore the need to strategise after the 2020 defeat and Martin Amidu has been tipped to lead the party after John Mahama’s second defeat.
The source disclosed that, even though Martin Amidu was planning to quit the special prosecutor’s job and concentrate on his election bid, his resignation was largely informed by the sudden death of the Founder of the party and Ghana’s former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu resigned on Monday from his position three years after he was appointed by President Akufo-Addo.
The former Attorney General wrote to the President Nana Akufo-Addo saying his decision is to enable his appointing authority “to take steps to appoint a replacement to that position as required by law.”
