Medical practitioner, minister and member of parliament for Ledzokuku constituency, Hon. Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has told the struggles he went through as a brilliant student to further his education after completing Junior High School.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, the deputy Minister for health said his late mother had to sell all her utensils she had toiled her life to buy in order to afford to send him to high school.
He added that, the rest of his fees were paid with loans his mother had to take from bank without which he would have had to drop out.
Basing on his own struggle, he said paying fees were the number one reason why a lot of children in his native Teshie and Chokor with the potential to become useful citizens like himself never made it to the stage he’s at now.
He used the opportunity to thank the president Nana Akufo-Addo for implementing Free SHS and according to him, parents will show gratitude by voting for him to continue with the good works he’s doing..
