“MAHAMA’S COUNTER PRESS CONFERENCES ARE ILLEGAL” – HOPESON ADOYE
A New Patriotic Party activist has reacted angrily to the spate of counter press conferences by former President, John Dramani Mahama, that immediately follows the sitting President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s addresses the nation on crucial national issue as inappropriate.
“Under the constitution of the Republic, there is only one President so what the former president has developed a penchant for, amounts to usurpation so his conduct is unconstitutional because we cannot have two presidents.’ He lamented.
Mr. Adoye who is the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate for Kpone Katamansu raised the issue when he featured on Wontumi TV and Radio’s early morning talk show hosted by Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Monday.
According to the Parliamentary aspirant, the former President is earnestly establishing a reputation as a “Social media President even though he is fully aware that the NDC has already lost the 2020 election.”
In Mr. Adoye’s view, majority of Ghanaians have acknowledged Nana Addo’s various interventions especially, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, to lessen the burden it imposed on them.
“In the midst of the Dumsor challenge which lasted nearly four years, not a single policy was introduced to cushion the hard-pressed Ghananian. Instead, consumers were made to battle with a grueling over-billing experience which collapsed several businesses.”
The NPP Parliamentary aspirant who said the motive of Mr. Mahama” is to be in the limelight to stay relevant” urged the media to be at the forefront in condemning Mr Mahama’s conduct.
“Nana Addo does not just come out to speak on issues. He does so after he has consulted the experts for essential inputs based on their knowledge and expertise before he forms an opinion or addresses the nation. That’s is why he is always on top of issues and I wish the former President would do same.” Mr Adoye said ”
