MAHAMA MAY ‘OWN’ THE STABILIZATION FUND BUT HE DOESN’T ‘OWN’ OUR OIL AND ITS DISCOVERY
I watched, nonplussed, when John Mahama raving and boasting about the point that he established the Stabilization Fund from which the COVID-19 Relief Fund is sourced.
To this end, he is claiming credit for setting up this fund which has come in handy during the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
“The COVID-19 Relief Fund is from my Stabilization Fund” he thundered, and asked that he should get all the praises for the monies being given to Ghanaians to cushion them in these critical moments.
As comedic as this move may sound, it also brings forth a fact, an indisputable fact John Mahama failed to speak to.
Let’s even grant him the point that it was under his administration that the Stabilization Fund was set up, did it come in a vacuum? It was born out of our oil discovery.
It was under the visionary leadership of President John Agyekum Kufour that oil was discovered in commercial quantities.
If Kufour hadn’t found the oil, would Mahama have set up the Stabilization Fund in the first place? No!
In the chain of events, if we are looking at who owns what per the pathetic logic ideated by Mahama, then both the Stabilization Fund and the COVID-19 Relief Fund are owned by the NPP under President John Agyekum Kufour.
Comedy of farcical kind has become John Dramani Mahama. Sooner than later, he will tell us that the few projects he built were built with his own monies.
The alternative is simply comedic! Let’s vote Number One for President Akufo-Addo and all the parliamentary candidates of the New Patriotic Party.
