MAHAMA HIRED A VISTA PRIVATE JET FOR GHS 877,800.00 TO SCOTLAND FOR A HONORARY DEGREE IN 2016 – ABRONYE REVEALS

Kwame Baffoe Abronye Writes
PRESIDENT MAHAMA AND THE NDC HAD NO MERCY FOR THE PUBLIC PURSE; ABLAKWA WAS A BENEFICIARY
Undoubtedly the NDC led John Mahama administration can be said to be the most corrupt administration the 4th Republic has witnessed.
A letter dated 25th October 2013 and signed by Chief Of Staff Mr Prosper Bani (as he then was) reveals how $82,558.74 equivalent GHS 470,751.6 of tax payers money was paid to the then First Lady Madam Lordina Mahama as allowance for traveling to participate in 5 day Medshare Gala held at USA, New York.
A break down of the budget depicts that, Madam Lordina Mahama was paid over $11,000.00 equivalent GhS 62,700 as per diem just to go and watch foot ball in the USA. My question here is why should Lordina Mahama be paid per diems when she is not a public officer?
Find attached a copy of the letter authorizing the payment.
I am still in shock why President Mahama will authorize the payment of such money to his wife who is not a public officer and which will in effect yield absolutely no result for the country.
To add to that, on 21st March, 2016 President Mahama travelled to Scotland with a Vista Jet’s Bombardier Global, a Private jet which charges $11,000 equivalent GHS 62,000 per an hour.
The distance from Scotland to Ghana is roughly 7 hours and a few minutes, so basic arithmetic suggests that government paid $77,000 equivalent to GHS 438,900.00.
This meant that, an in and out fare of the flight would amount to $154,000 equivalent to GHS 877,800.00.
Mr Mahama was in Scotland to attend a special convocation to confer on him an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD). This certificate in no way affected the lives of Ghanaians.
As at that time, the state had a Presidential Jet which could have been used.
It is important to note that, as at the time of these recklessly expenditures, the good people of Ghana were suffering from power crises “DUMSOR” where Hon John Jinapor (Dep Power Minister) had admitted that “frankly money was a challenge in fixing the mess”.
As at the time of this expenditure, the government had run to IMF for a bail out which had in turn seen a freeze on public sector recruitment.
As at that time, teachers were on strike for non payment of salaries.
As at that time, Nurses had laid down their equipments for non payment of allowances.
As at the time of this expenditure, parents were struggling to pay the fees of their SHS wards.
To conclude with, As at the time of these reckless spendings, Mr. Ablakwa was a member of both the Executive and legislative arm of government and supervising the payment of double salaries to his colleague MPS.
Also, in 2011 Mr Ablakwa hired two jets to convey friends and family from Accra to WA for his marriage ceremony which was paid by the Information ministry where he was a deputy minister.
Today, he ( Ablakwa) and the NDC have got the nerves to criticize President Akufo Addo for chattering a flight to Paris which has seen the country benefit £170 million for the establishment of a National Development Bank.
