Lawyer Barbara Oteng-Gyasi Donate Book Booths To Basic Schools in Prestea Huni Valley
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Prestea Huni-valley Constituency, Hon. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, on Monday, August 31, 2020, donated five state of the art book booths to basic schools within her area to improve reading.
The move is in her quest to resolve the challenges students face in accessing books and to also encourage students to cultivate the habit of reading.
The boots were donated to basic schools with support from the Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC), through their “Learn to Read; Read to Learn” campaign which aims to promote reading particularly among school children.
Beneficiary schools included, Aboso Glass Factory Basic School, at Aboso, Nana Amoakwa School at Damang, Huni-valley Methodist School, at Huni-valley.
Other schools were, Bogoso M/A Basic School at Bogoso and Islamic School at Prestea.
The booths comes with stocked books with seating area and will be positioned at convenient, accessible and secured location on school compounds.
The MP is hopeful the booths would go a long way to improve reading and learning among students in the constituency.
Heads, parents and students of beneficiary schools expressed gratitude to the MP and government for the initiative.
