JOY FM SHOULD BE EDUCATED ON PROPER JOURNALISM
DECLINING TO COMMENT
Frank Asiedu Bekoe requested for the journalist (Kwetey Nartey) to put things into writing so he can also respond to the issues being raised. This was not done. It is therefore false to say that he declined to comment on the issue when contacted.
PRICES OF CAR
Frank Asiedu Bekoe DOES NOT determine the prices of allocated cars. That is professionally done by the customs division of the GRA hence the issue of giving cars away cheaply is untenable.
RECOMMENDATION OF PEOPLE
Frank Asiedu Bekoe only RECOMMENDED PEOPLE FOR CONSIDERATION by the Commissioner General. It is instructive to note that the said letter was only a recommendation, the outcome of which was to be solely determined by the customs division of GRA. He did not at any point bring any pressure to bear on or influence officers involved in making the final decision. This explains why only a few were considered. Out of the ones considered, some turned down the offer because the vehicles were unserviceable whilst some vehicles could not be located as they had been given to their original owners/importers on first offer.
This explains why one Alex Gyedu who was proposed for consideration for a Hyundai Sonata was eventually allocated to and paid for by Nana Kwame Agyare.
According to the Joy FM report and as confirmed by the custom Officer, it is absolutely a normal practice for institutions/persons to send proposals to the customs division of GRA to be ‘’CONSIDERED’’ during allocation. Therefore Joy FM should be educated that an application for consideration CANNOT and SHOULD NOT be misconstrued to be a letter of allocation.
PEOPLE ON THE SAID LIST
The people on the list are Ghanaian nationals from different ethnic, religious and political backgrounds.
