Loath and reticent as I am to espouse my views on the persistency with which John Dramani Mahama has been singing ethnocentric hymns, the exigency of the situation has coerced me to come to this conclusion that the former President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama is a tribal bigot.
Mincing words are this time over this perilously dangerous trend may prove to be catastrophic in the not-too-distant future.
Let me drown myself in a few reasons amongst a countless number of them why I hold the view that this man has achieved iconicity in the field of ethnocentric sentiments.
In the run-up to the 2012 elections, Mahama went to the Northern Region, mounted a platform and urged his Northern brothers and sisters to vote for him because he was one of them. He didn’t ask them to endorse his candidature because he had what it takes to affect their lives positively, he wanted their votes because he was from the North. There was nothing more tribal than that call on the people of the North to vote for him for being their sibling.
When military personnel were deployed into the various regions and border towns, Mahama hurriedly jumped into the gutters to claim that Akufo-Addo hated Voltarians, hence the deployment of soldiers into the region.
The Ministry of Defence came up with reasons why the soldiers had been sent into the region and also provided factual details and evidence of a similar deployment of soldiers into other places with more men and women than those in the Volta Region.
This sound and unimpeachable evidence was ignored by Mahama and his people and they have been ruthless in propagating these lies just to whip up sentiments.
Even when there is a clear evidence of non-Ghanaians attempting to register to vote and are dealt with, Mahama labels the retributive actions as discriminatory and a ploy to disenfranchise Voltarians and non-Akans.
A group of people who do not stay in the Banda Constituency were prevented from registering and this nettles Mahama so much so that he wades into the issue with his overused mantra of Akufo-Addo discriminating against Voltarians.
ASEPA, a group fully sponsored by Mahama has alleged that depositors of Northern and Volta extractions whose monies are locked up as a result of the banking sector collapse are being discriminated against.
These and many more of such issues time would not allow me to delve into loudly support my position that John Mahama is a desperate man who has no solid message for the Ghanaian electorate and hopes to win power using ethnocentricism.
