HOW MAHAMA TRICKED GHANAIANS WITH A 10% PAY CUT AND GOT AWAY WITH IT.
In November 2013, Mr. Mahama announced a 10% pay cut for himself, his vice and appointees of his government.
The money was to be used for the construction of Community Health Program and Service (CHPS) compounds in rural communities.
The Deputy Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Owusu before the Public Accounts Committee of parliament in 2017 revealed, the then Chief of Staff wrote to the office to stop the deductions and release what had been deducted to the presidency. Only GHC896,459 had been realised by the end of 2014 when the Controller was ordered to release the money.
Now, in 2016, Mr. Mahama increased the salary of himself, his vice, ministers and other officials by 10%. Guess what, the increment was to take effect from 2013.
What this means is, all those who were affected by the 10% pay cut as announced in 2013 got all their moneys back in bulk in 2017.
Anytime they tell you, they built CHPS compounds with their own money, remember they got their money back in full and in bulk.
