HIS EXCELLENCY FORMER PRESIDENT MR JOHN MAHAMA MUST APOLOGIZE FOR HIS ETHNOCENTRIC AND DEROGATORY ENDORSEMENT
The attention of the Movement For One Ghana (M_FOG) has been caught by a Facebook post on the official page of the former president whose content is conducive enough for a tribal and political chaos as he defames the Akyem people as ‘mafia and sakawa’
We M_FOG are worried to have seen such an ethnocentric fueled remark from a person who once steered the affairs of the country and also, seeking to occupy the seat of governance one more time. We therefore expected him to be the least to join this uncivilized commentary.
We believe he could have by far and better exercise his right to freedom of speech devoid of joining this windward politics of ridiculing and stereotyping other tribes as he sought to air his view on the Agyapa Royalty brouhaha Couldn’t he and Hon. Isaac Adongo criticize devoid of dragging in the Akyem people ?
As a country, we need to keep reminding ourselves of how some fellow African nations have suffered fatal civil wars as a result of such unfortunate remarks and judgements, the Rwandan civil war for instance.
M_FOG through this communique demands an immediate apology from the former president to all Ghanaians and for much, the people of Akyem. Failure to do this would undoubtedly will create a recipe for more of such undemocratic pronouncement from people against other groups.
We entreat all Ghanaians, media houses, civil society groups, religious and political leaders to join us condemn this ethnocentrism to keep our beloved country safe and free from such defamatory statements.
Mr. Prince A. Offei
