A former Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, Fuseini Issah, has questioned the motives behind Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s crusade against President Akufo-Addo’s travels.
In a post found on his Facebook timeline, the former MP could not understand why the North Tongu MP would embark on a seemingly relentless campaign against the President for traveling with a chartered but luxurious plane when he Ablakwa enjoyed a similar facility on a trip abroad.
“When I was in Parliament, Okujeto Ablakwa and myself travelled on a couple of trips (he was ranking member and I was a member of the foreign affairs committee) I recollect a tour of some countries in Europe and also to Kenya. As MPs we traveled business class and not economy. I recollect an instance when we travelled from Paris to Madrid” part of the post reads.
He continued: “Because our luggage was held up in Paris, we had to get new clothes in Madrid to enable us keep to our itinerary. What are his real challenges with how the President travelled?” he quizzed.
According to the former Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has no moral justification to be questioning the President for traveling with a hired jet which is filled with luxury when Ablakwa has, in the past, travelled on planes with similar specifications.
The North Tongu Member of Parliament has been in the news for more than two weeks over what he termed as an extravagant travels by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Ablakwa has been raving about the decision to hire a jet with its attendant costs. The Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul has provided answers to some of his questions with the Finance Minister expected to fill in the remaining gaps
