Earlier today, I was joined by the Minister for Education, Hon. Mathew Opoku Prempeh to hand over 100 buses to Senior High Schools, on behalf of H. E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The 100 buses, which will be distributed to 100 senior high schools selected from the North East, Northern, Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, Oti, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions, are part of 350 buses the government has procured for senior high schools across the country.
The procurement of the 350 buses, and the handing over of the first batch of 100, follows similar handing over of vehicles to our education sector earlier in the year by the government.
In March, I handed over 365 Isuzu double cabin pick from a total of 840 procured to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directorates of Education, as well as selected agencies under the Ministry of Education.
I also handed 493 out of a total 2000 motorbikes to aid the work of circuit supervisors and to further enhance their supervisory roles in education.
This procurement of vehicles for the education sector is a fulfilment of President Akufo-Addo’s commitment not only to accessible education, but also to ensure that his government provides complementary resources to ensure the delivery of quality education.
