The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has said that there is no way the Electoral Commission (EC) can conduct any credible elections with the current voter register.
According to him, the current voter register is so bloated that any result that it will produce after it is used for elections cannot be described as credible.
“There’s no way current voter register can be used for elections, you cannot use this register and have a credible outcome because it is bloated…” he said during an interview on Okay FM monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com.
He said he has always remained shocked that the NDC has always kicked against the compilation of a new voters register.
Some opposition parties led by the NDC have kicked against the EC’s decision to compile a new voter’s register.
The ruling party, NPP and other parties have also supported the EC’s efforts to compile a new register indicating that the country needs a new register for the 2020 elections.
The NDC had claimed that they believe the President lifted the partial lock down on Accra and Kumasi so
“I can assure you that the consideration that went into the lifting of the lockdown has nothing to do with politics at all…,” he said.
