Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Dame has had his take on the injunction the Ningo Prampram Member of Parliament, Hon. Sam George placed on the workshop which was to be held by the Electoral Commission and its officials on the 24/04/2020 at the Escape Hotel.
Lawyer Godfred Dame indicated that the court didn’t stop the Electoral Commission (EC) to stop the workshop but rather some specific steps the EC wanted to embark on.
“The Electoral Commission can hold the conference but not at the Escape Hotel and not within the time frame the court has ordered”- he explained to Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Kumasi based Wontumi Radio and Television.
He continued that the court orders do not stop the Electoral Commission from embarking on something different.
“If someone is going to seek an injunction from the court, two things are very vital. One is the cause of action which gives the reason for you making that decision and the second is the establishing of right in the complaint which talks about the right of the prosecution.
Lawyer Godfred Dame stated that if you juxtapose what Hon. Sam George did to the law, he has no right to do so.
