A leader must be consistent and truthful to his subjects and this is what President Akufo-Addo is known to be since his young days.
His traits can be traced back to his early days in politics.
As a believer in democracy and a respecter of human rights and freedom, President Akufo-Addo in 1978, led the Peoples Movement for Freedom and Justice (PMFJ) to oppose the Acheampong’s Union Government which intended to suppress the rights and freedom of Ghanaians.
It takes only a courageous and determined soul to fight a dictator in that tangent.
In 1995, when the rebranded PNDC government was governing under the guise of the NDC, suppressing Ghanaians of their rights and freedom, Nana Akufo-Addo led the Kumi Preko demonstration which brought about the press freedom and absolute freedom we enjoy today.
You see, consistency.
In 2008, the then candidate Akufo-Addo promised Free SHS when voted for. The opposition used lies and deceit to rubbish Nana’s promise and won the elections.
In 2012, Nana Akufo-Addo reechoed the Free SHS promise. The NDC did what they do best (deceit) and won.
In 2016, when Ghanaians believed Nana Akufo-Addo and voted for him, few months after ascending the throne as President of the Republic, he implemented Free SHS and today, Senior High education is free in Ghana.
A leader must be consistent.
Compared to former President Mahama who cancelled trainees allowance and vowed not to restore it, has, for the want of power, is saying otherwise.
He rubbished and ridiculed the Free SHS policy, but today, for the want of power, he is saying contrary to his position.
You can’t trust Mahama. He is inconsistent.
Trust Nana Akufo-Addo for he always keeps his word.
