BEING A GHANAIAN IS NOT SUFFICIENT ENOUGH FOR YOU TO REGISTER AT A POLLING STATION OF YOUR CHOICE
He is pushing this warped and incongruous logic of people being prevented from registering in Banda on the basis of their ethnicity.
The fact that someone is a Ghanaian doesn’t mean he can register at any polling station. Even within the same town, one cannot wake up and go to any polling station of his choice to register, per the CI regulating these elections.
You should be resident of a place for a period not less than one year. If you do not meet this requirement, you cannot register no matter who you are.
There are many Ewes in the Banda zone. Those who have lived there for years have registered but those who came to the place a few months ago cannot register, and that’s the law.
If these people are seen not to be part of the Ewes who have been residing in the constituency, then any move to challenge their eligibility should not be interpreted as an attack on a tribe.
Why must the law be bent because a group of people cannot come to the realization that it is about the law but not about them?
This archaic approach the NDC is using has lost its efficacy in our times. It is shameful, to say the least, for Alfred Ogbamey and his hirelings to be advancing such an obnoxious and antiquated approach to politics. The fact that they are Ewes alone should not be a sufficient reason for them to be registered. They must show that they have been staying there for a year and above.
