AUDIO: Use your brains when using the ‘free water’ – Cecilia Dapaah tells Ghanaians


The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has said in an interview monitored by that Ghanaians should be careful about how they misuse water because it may soon go against them.

According to her, the fact that Ghanaians are not going to be billed for the next three months is not a license for some persons to misuse water.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his fifth address to the nation Sunday [April 5, 2020] said the government will take care of the water bills for all Ghanaians for April, May and June 2020 following an increase in the country’s coronavirus cases amidst a partial lockdown of the epicenters of the disease.

He added that “Again, the Ghana Water Company Ltd and the Electricity Company of Ghana have been directed to ensure the stable supply of water and electricity during this period. In addition, there will be no disconnection of supply. Furthermore, the government will absorb the water bills for all Ghanaians for the next three months, ie, April, May, and June. All water tankers, publicly and privately-owned, are also going to be mobilized to ensure the supply of water to all vulnerable communities”.
