Asante Kotoko have granted Daniel Darkwah’s wish to leave the club

Asante Kotoko have granted Daniel Darkwah’s wish to leave the club following discussions with the player on Tuesday.

The left-back was part of Asante Kotoko squad for the 2019/20 Champions League.

However, everything changed on the CAF deadline day on Tuesday when an agent wrote to the club to request for the release of the player.

Daniel Darkwah’s contract is set to expire on January 3, 2020, but the agent, who claimed to have been given the power of attorney by the player, said his client was not going to renew the deal.

A call was put through from the secretariat to Daniel Darkwah, and the player confirmed the identity given by the agent while also corroborating the content of the letter.

Asante Kotoko thus found it prudent to grant the player’s wish since they can neither hold on to him nor use his services after the expiration of his contract.

Darkwah joined the Porcupines from Aduana Stars on a two-year deal in January 2018, but could not replicate his dominance at the Dormaa-based club in Kumasi.

Darkwah was widely a part player as he could not nail down a consistent place in the squad, partly due to a  niggling shoulder injury.
