The 8-year rule of the NDC was filled with despondency, excruciating economic hardships, power outages which collapsed businesses and made life unbearable for the populace.
The education sector was the hardest hit as the motivation of teachers was at an all time low. Their allowances were scrapped, allowances for teacher trainees were also killed.
Chalks, other TLMs became scarce as the then Mahama administration showed no willingness to develop the human resource side within that sector.
Millions of Ghanaian children roamed the streets in the villages, towns and cities with no hope for a better tomorrow.

Several adverts were made against the Free SHS concept in the 2012 electioneering campaign. Over 50 advertisements were screened on our television sets all in their overarching attempts to dissuade Ghanaians from buying into that important message.
In the 2016 polls, Ghanaians gave Akufo-Addo the mantle of leadership and that has resulted in the over 1.2 million children being enrolled under the Free SHS programme.
Girls of school going age who would have been walking around with pregnancies are now schooling.
Boys of school going age who would have been roaming around aimlessly are now busily learning.
Akufo-Addo rescued Ghanaians from the shackles of economic nightmares the Mahama administration plunged Ghanaians into.
Akufo-Addo has given Ghanaian children a renewed sense of hope, the hope for a better tomorrow as a result of Free SHS.
Thanks to President Akufo-Addo, hopelessness which drenched Ghanaian children of school going age has been shattered.
The future is no longer bleak. The future is more than bright and glorious. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo represents the Hope for the next generation of Ghanaians. He deserves four more years to complete this visionary mission.
