Member of Parliament for Wassa East, Hon. Isaac Agyei Mensah, has called for the abolishment of vigilante groups who normally hide and attach their activities to the two major political parties in Ghana to cause atrocities.
Hon. Isaac Agyei Mensah, who is also a member of the National Democratic Congress noted on ATV’s Asem Yi DI Ka show that members on both side of the political divide should put away their political lens and focus on dealing with the menace caused by such groups.
The NDC MP called on government to dissolve groups such as the Invisible Forces and Delta Force who have recently been in the news for the bad reasons.
“All those Invisible Forces must be dissolved and the government should educate those who want to be educated and employ those who want to work. The leaders in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) must not keep defending the guys abusing innocent citizens. The government must end the operations of such groups now”, he said.
He called on all political parties to come together as one and condemn the unnecessary actions of vigilante groups.
The National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, has also made a similar call. He has urged Members of Parliament and politicians to desist from branding the fight against vigilante groups with political colours.
According to him, politicizing the fight will undermine the efforts of security agencies to clamp down on their illegal activities.
