ENOUGH OF YOUR FELONIOUS THREATS TO THE MEDIA, STOP OR BE READY TO FACE THE LAW
Your reaffirmation of banning social media on election day does not only suggests that, you have lost focus of providing security to Ghanaians but clearly determines your lack of deeper understanding of the supreme authority of the land (the 1992 constitution).
This unnecessary, unconstitutional and undemocratic threats to the media must stop immediately. Unless you tell me Ghana has returned to military rule where people like you (John Kudalor) can make laws and implement them without Parliaments consideration.
The knee jerk approach to solving things in this country must stop.
I could not believe what I read and observed in the media space yesterday and have no option than draw your attention to portions of the constitution you Mr. John Kudalor has refused to recon.
A) Article 172 of Ghana’s 1992 constitution stipulates that; there shall be independent of the media which shall not be subject to any direction or control of any person or authority in the performance of its functions.
B) Article 162(5) of the same constitution add to it that; the MEDIA shall at all times be free to uphold the principles, provisions and objectives of this constitution, and shall uphold responsibility and accountability of government to the people of Ghana.
C) The 1992 constitution in article 162(3) once again stipulates that; there shall be no IMPEDIMENTS to the establishment of private press or media; and in particular, there shall be no law requiring any person to obtain license as a prerequisite to the establishment or operation of a newspaper, journal or other media for mass communication or information.
Mr. John Kudalor, as a matter of fact you should be ready to face some of us in the law court to point to Ghanaians, the chapter, clause and section which can better explain or give constitutional backing to fulfil your proposal.
Sir, if you have not already compromise you neutrality or forfeit your critical and generational thinking to please the powers that appointed you as IGP then kindly wake up to reality to foresee that your action and inaction in this exercise will not forestall peace but rather chaos.
And It is out of good counsel do I, Kofi Asante ask that you abandoned this ‘evil’ thought for a violence free election this year.
Long live the Media
Long live Africa’s Ghana
