Communications Minister, Edward Omane Boamah has predicted that the governing NDC will win seven more seats in the Eastern Region at the December polls.
Addressing a gathering of Zongo youth in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, Dr. Omane Boamah noted that the electoral fortunes of the party in the Eastern Region have soared over the previous elections, while the NPP’s fortunes continue to dwindle.
According to him,” All the research conducted by election watchers, pundits and what have you shows clearly that our party will win not less than seven more seats on December 7.
“It means when we work harder and put aside complacency NDC will get seven more seats making it fourteen or more parliamentary seats in the region.”
The Eastern region has 33 contituencies, 26 of which are currently being held by the opposition New Patriotic Party, with the governing party managing only seven.
This, the Communications Minister believes, is due to change in the December elections.
The NPP, he claimed, is aware that the NDC is close to winning the Suhum, Asuogyaman, Ayensuano, Nsawam-Adoagyiri and some other seats in the region.
Touching on the performance of the John Mahama-led administration, the presidential spokesperson noted that “no government in our 4th republic can equal the track record of the NDC in the area of infrastructure development and economic boom in spite of some challenges confronting us”.
He said the government was laying a sound economic and infrastructure foundation for economic transformation.
He wondered why anybody will decide to substitute the NDC government for any political group to reap where they did not sow.
