Don’t forget what ‘dumsor’ caused this country; there’s change now – Finance Minister
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has said government is proud to have at least solved Ghana’s energy problem which collapsed many business during former President Mahama’s tenure.
He urged Ghanaians to appreciate government’s effort to have solved the situation which was a major burden to the country’s economy.
“Do not forget what Dumsor caused this country some years ago. In less than two years, the NPP government has solved the situation. There is a change now,” Mr Ofori-Atta said during his presentation of the 2019 Budget and Economic Policy to parliament in accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 constitution.
Ghana’s power supply became erratic in early 2001. There was reduced generation capacity, due to a significant drop in water levels at the Akosombo Dam.
The term (Dumsor) gain prominence in August 2012, when the Mahama led government told Ghanaians that a ship’s anchor cut the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP), forcing gas turbines to shut down for lack of fuel.
